Hello! I am an experienced multimedia magazine editor, content writer and storyteller based between the Gulf and the UK. Most recently, I held the position of Editor-in-Chief at FACT Magazine Middle East, living and working in both Abu Dhabi and Bahrain. Prior to this, I was the Section Editor for travel and parenting at FemaleFirst.co.uk.
In 2011, I became a recipient of the Journalism Diversity Fund Scholarship which is offered to young people for courses accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists. I went on to complete my MA in Magazine Journalism at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston. During this time, I travelled to Guangzhou, China to work with fellow trainee journalists as an Online Reporter for The Hotpot website. Furthermore, I was shortlisted as a finalist for the PTC Academy’s Best Original Concept magazine for my idea and development of a publication for young British Muslim girls.
I have interned for Absolute Publishing Ltd, the Richmond and Twickenham Times newspaper and Wanderlust travel magazine, all in the UK. I have since freelanced for numerous international print and online publications including Spa Secrets Magazine, National Geographic Traveller Family, Hadag Magazine, Villa 88 Magazine, Yalla Magazine and the commercial content provider BBC StoryWorks.
In my previous roles, I have written and commissioned features and branded content for print, online and social media whilst working alongside graphic designers, art directors, and production managers to produce and deliver quality monthly products to strict deadlines. I have also put together business plans for new market launches, implemented innovative brand redesigns and consulted on digital campaigns for several industry events.
